# The onboarding walkthrough

> What each step of the setup wizard actually does.

Onboarding is 5 visible steps. Sender connect (LinkedIn / email / WhatsApp) happens either **inline on the launch screen** or **post-launch on the Outreach Agent page** — not as a wizard step.

## Step 1 — Paste your website URL

**What Guhan does:** fetches your website (homepage + about + product pages), reads the content, and uses it to prefill your brand summary + ICP suggestions.

**What to think about:**

* Use your main marketing site, not a subdomain or landing page
* If you have multiple products, use the site that best represents your main offering
* Guhan handles asset-heavy sites (large images, WordPress, JavaScript-rendered pages) fine

<Tip>
  If you came from the landing page's **"Find prospects"** CTA, your URL is already prefilled. Just click **Continue**.
</Tip>

## Step 2 — Confirm your brand

**What Guhan does:** shows you a form pre-filled with:

* **Company name**
* **Industry** — pick from LinkedIn's taxonomy
* **Company description & value proposition** — 2-3 sentences
* **Customer pain points** — 2-3 problems your customers face
* **Preferred tone** — professional / casual / friendly / direct / playful / professional-casual

Each field pre-filled by Guhan gets an **✨ AI-generated** pill. Read every line. Edit anything that doesn't sound like you.

**Why this matters:** every message Guhan writes references this summary. Weak summary = weak messages.

<Tip>
  You can revisit this anytime via **Brand & Voice** in the sidebar. Nothing you set here is locked.
</Tip>

## Step 3 — Define your audience

Two screens grouped as one visible step in the progress bar.

### Who to reach (titles + locations)

* **Titles** — the roles you sell to, as chips: "VP of Sales", "Head of Marketing", etc.
* **Location** — where they live or work (city / country / region)

You don't need every variation. Guhan auto-generates matches — type "VP of Sales" once and it also finds "Vice President Sales", "SVP Sales", "Head of Revenue", etc.

### What companies (firmographics)

* **Industry** — pick from LinkedIn's list; multiple OK
* **Company size** — headcount range slider (e.g., 50–500)
* **Exclude companies** (optional) — LinkedIn company URLs of orgs to skip
* **Exclude keywords** (optional) — words that shouldn't appear in the prospect's title / company / description

<Note>
  Signals ("just raised funding" / "posted about a topic" / etc.) are NOT captured here. They live on the final launch screen as an inline popup — see Step 5.
</Note>

## Step 4 — Preview 5 prospects

**What Guhan does:** runs a real LinkedIn search using your filters and shows 5 people.

For each:

* **Accept** — this is exactly the kind of person I want
* **Reject** — no, this isn't right

Your accepts + rejects tune the search for the actual launch. Reject cycles regenerate 5 fresh candidates (up to 3 cycles).

<Tip>
  Look at each prospect's current role, company, and headline. Would you send them a personalized message? Yes → accept. No → reject.
</Tip>

## Step 5 — Launch

The final screen shows a summary of what your Watchlist Agent + Outreach Agent will do. Before you click Launch, two optional inline cards let you configure things that WERE separate wizard steps in older versions:

### Buying triggers (signals) — inline popup

Click the **Buying triggers** card → opens a popup with signal picker:

* 💰 Funding raised recently
* 📈 They're hiring
* 👔 New leadership joined
* 🎯 Engaged with a competitor's post
* 📢 Posted about specific keywords
* 🎁 Engaged with a specific post URL

Pick zero, one, or several. Skip entirely to run a plain ICP search (no signal).

### How to reach them (sender channel) — inline popup

Click the **How to reach them** card → opens a popup with channel picker:

* **LinkedIn** — connect via OAuth (Unipile hosted auth)
* **Email** (Gmail / Outlook) — connect via OAuth
* **WhatsApp** — QR scan with your phone (personal / business WhatsApp)

You can skip this entirely and connect after launch — your Outreach Agent will show a **"Connect \[channel] to start sending"** banner on its detail page.

### Click Launch

Guhan:

<Steps>
  <Step title="Enrolls your accepted preview prospects">
    The 5 people you accepted in Step 4 become your seed prospects — they're the first ones in your List, no waiting for the first sweep.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Activates your Watchlist Agent">
    Starts sweeping for more prospects matching your ICP + signals. First scheduled sweep fires within 24 hours.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Creates your Outreach Agent">
    Bound to a default 3-step sequence: LinkedIn invite → wait 3 days → LinkedIn DM.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Starts drafting messages">
    Within 5-10 minutes, the first personalized messages are ready. If a sender is connected, they queue to send during your active hours.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## After launch

You land on the **Outreach Agent detail page**. From here:

* **Prospects tab** — see who Guhan enrolled + who's in-flight
* **Sequence tab** — rewrite the default flow
* **Sources tab** — see + edit the Watchlist Agent that feeds this
* **Settings tab** — name, product, senders, handoff behavior

## Wait — where's LinkedIn?

Older versions of Guhan asked you to connect LinkedIn as **Step 1** of onboarding. That got removed 2026-06-28 — the founder direction was **time-to-value matters more than the marginal richness of a LinkedIn pre-fill**. Now:

* **During onboarding**: you paste your website URL. Guhan reads your site content, prefills brand/product/ICP.
* **On the launch screen**: optional inline "How to reach them" popup where you connect a sender.
* **After launch**: your Outreach Agent shows a banner CTA to connect a sender if you haven't yet.
