WhatsApp is the highest-reply-rate channel Guhan supports — prospects treat WhatsApp as personal, not marketing. Volume is lower (40 messages/day per account) but engagement per message is much higher. WhatsApp also unlocks Ask Guhan on your phone — chat with your workspace from your phone by messaging Guhan on WhatsApp.

Two use cases

Outreach sender

Guhan sends WhatsApp messages to prospects as part of a sequence.

Ask Guhan on the go

Chat with your workspace from your phone — “show me today’s replies” via WhatsApp.
The connection flow is the same for both — you connect once, then decide what the sender does.

What you’ll need

  • Your phone with WhatsApp installed (personal WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business, both work)
  • 60 seconds to scan a QR code
Guhan uses Unipile as the WhatsApp integration provider. Same secure OAuth substrate as LinkedIn and email — nothing goes through Meta’s Cloud API (no template pre-approval, no Business Manager setup).

Steps

1

Go to Settings → Sender accounts → + Connect

Sidebar → Settings → Sender accounts. Click + Connect in the top-right.
2

Pick WhatsApp

From the provider grid.
3

Scan the QR code with your phone

A QR code appears in the browser. On your phone:
  • WhatsApp → Settings → Linked DevicesLink a Device
  • Scan the QR code on screen
Same flow as connecting WhatsApp Web.
4

Confirm the connection

Once scanned, your browser shows “Connected — verifying…” for 5-10 seconds. Then the sender appears in your list with an Active dot.
5

Choose what this WhatsApp account does

Two toggles on the sender’s row:
  • Use for outreach — Guhan can use this WhatsApp for outbound sequence steps
  • Enable Ask Guhan on WhatsApp — turns your own WhatsApp into a chat interface for your workspace. You send a message to yourself (your own number) and Guhan replies in that chat.
You can enable both.

Daily limits

WhatsApp has the tightest safety limits of any channel:
SettingDefaultAdjustable up to
Messages per day40100
Messages per hour1015
WhatsApp doesn’t use Meta’s Cloud API (no template pre-approval required) but your personal/business account can still get temporarily banned if you send high-volume outreach. Stick close to defaults.

What Guhan sends

Every WhatsApp message is:
  • Generated per prospect — no template blasts
  • Sent from your name + your WhatsApp number
  • A real 1:1 conversation — prospects reply back to you directly
Guhan reads incoming replies + drops them in your Inbox like any other channel.

Prospect must have a phone

WhatsApp requires the prospect to have a phone number. If Guhan doesn’t have their phone yet:
  • Guhan reveals it at send time via a phone lookup (costs 12 credits)
  • OR skips this step if the reveal fails (no phone number found)
Enable phone reveal on your workspace’s Auto-reveal settings if you want Guhan to proactively look up phones as prospects land.

Ask Guhan on WhatsApp

If you enabled Ask Guhan on WhatsApp on your WhatsApp sender’s row, chatting from your phone works via a self-message — you open a WhatsApp thread with your own phone number, type a question, and Guhan replies in that thread.
You: Show me today's replies
Guhan: [message thread]

You: How many prospects landed today?
Guhan: 8 prospects landed today across 2 Watchlist Agents. Want the breakdown?
Same commands as the web chat — see Ask Guhan concept for the full list.
Ask Guhan only fires on self-messages (you texting your own number). Messages you send to actual prospects or contacts go out normally — Guhan doesn’t intercept them. This is why the toggle exists at the sender-account level rather than a keyword prefix.

Disconnecting

Settings → Sender accounts → [WhatsApp account] → Disconnect. This:
  • Immediately stops all outreach through this WhatsApp
  • Ends the Ask-Guhan-on-WhatsApp session
  • Doesn’t affect your WhatsApp app itself — just removes Guhan’s linked-device session
You can also unlink from your phone: WhatsApp → Settings → Linked Devices → Guhan → Log out.

Reauth

If WhatsApp’s linked-device session expires (usually after 30 days of inactivity), Guhan can’t send.
  • Banner at the top of the app: “Your WhatsApp account needs to reconnect”
  • Settings → Sender accounts → [account] → Reconnect → scan QR again
Takes 30 seconds.

What if the QR code times out?

QR codes expire after 60 seconds. If yours does:
  • Click Regenerate QR in the modal
  • Scan the fresh one
